Hey...

Generally speaking, what is something you absolutely hated about the original Rosenkreuzstilette?
Mine is the fact that the game uses passwords instead of a save feature.

Yeah, that and the fact that you had to go through the fortresses without being able to save.

Isn't that what Megaman has you do, though?

Only the first seven in the original series and the first three in the X series had a password system. The remaining entries (MM8-10/MMX4-X8) used a save feature. Just because that's what Megaman did, doesn't mean Rosenkreuzstilettte has to do the same.

Grolla Mode. Let's make her take more damage than necessary. (Fuck you, Yellow Devil.)
Oh, and some stages are just not made for her gameplay. Genius erka:es, genius.

The Crosswall fight with Grolla made me mad, but it's me beeing bad rather than a flaw...

The password isn't really an issue, it's part of the MM2 game engine we all know. And it as got a password for the final stage: quite a handful compared to the MM series Smile

I'm quite surprised how RKS has so few bugs or glitches compared to Megaman, actually. It's really well done for a first game, and RKSF will probably be the same, I hope so.

I don't mind the password system at all really. I mean this IS an homage to the classic NES Mega Man games after all. So of course a password system is gonna be used. Beside, there is a way to "save" your game by using F12. My biggest gripe of Rosenkreuzstilette is that Rosenkreuzstilette ~Grollschwert's~ difficulty is unbalanced; platforming and fighting some of the bosses are easier, other times the bosses are pathetic to fight as Grolla (i.e. Trauare), and then there are times when the bosses are just broken or flat-out cheap and will drive people to throw their keyboards out of frustration (i.e. The Cross Wall).

What the [Seelegewehr] is the point of Grolla's armor if it doesn't protect her from harm at all?

Maybe she'd die in one hit without her armor...

We are lucky she ctually has it, if that's the case Arrow

Some more:...

How about...

RECHARGE ALL YOUR WEAPONS WHEN YOU DIE.

and...

START OUT WITH MORE LIVES.

Sorry, I was a little over-the-top with this one. The last one isn't that much of a big deal.

Then it wouldn't be much of a challenge if they completely refill your weapons after dying now, would it? If I can recall recorrectly, some of the Mega Man X games does restore weapons after death, but this ISN'T a Mega Man X-clone. Welcome to the 8-bit era of gaming...

I know Rosenkreuzstilette was only made as a tribute to the Mega Man games released on the late 80s and early 90's, but just because it's a tribute, doesn't mean it has to emulate everything down to the last detail. That's why I had said that the game should have a save feature instead of/alongside a password system, recharge weapons upon death, and start out with more than three lives. (if all else fails, [erka] could try instead inserting an option to change the game's difficulty to make it easier/harder, but there is a very, very small chance that will happen.)

Apparently, the only key way of "saving" the game is as Viper had pointed out, taking a screenshot using F12 upon being presented with a password, and second, the only way to truly refuel all your life and mana (weapon energy) is (either on purpose or accident) running out of lives, getting treated to one of the game's many Game Over screens, then re-starting from the beginning of the stage. Of course, this does mean sacrificing the checkpoints you probably had to work your butts off to reach.

As I said on deviantART, I'm not a hardcore expert, I'm not a skilled player, I'm just a regular, average player who only plays the game(s) because he enjoys doing so. I was frustrated when I typed those two "flaws" because I kept getting my @ kicked by the freakin' Develed Egg, and hated having to always restart the stages. (to tell you the truth, the "devil" bosses in the Mega Man series were very difficult for me, the Mega Man Powered Up variant being the absolute worst. Although I was able to reach the Iris Machine's second phase, I could not defeat it and play the Last Stage with Halo 3's Final Warthog Run BGM.

In conclusion, I'm not saying [erka:es] has to apply these statements to their game, as it's mighty fine as it is. I actually went through similar problems when I played through Mega Man 5 several years ago.

The only thing I absolutely hated is the fact that you can collect infinte energy tanks. That makes the game ridiculously easy if you have patience to collect about, let's say... 20 of them.

The energy tank feature was supposed to be like on Megamari. That you can only collect a total of 4 and you lose all of them if you get a game over.

I hope this to be corrected on RKSF.

Never tried to collect this much... But the game itself isn't that hard, to begin with, there is quite a lot of health refuels everywhere !
Megamari was hard as hell on this side.

Best feature to correct that ? An hard mode, as erka:es evoqued when they released the demo. Cool
I'd like something more challenging, now. But it takes time...

What I hated in RKS 1 is...

The Deviled Egg Boss. Why couldn't that floating Eye thing fight instead, those deviled Egg bosses were horrible in the original and they should NOT be in this game, they just don't fit. (every megaman clone may have one)

But the flaw I hated the most

it ended... The game ended. Maybe a good after story would suffice? (SOMEONE PLEASE WRITE SOME FANFICTION BEFORE I DO!)
